Meet the Artists

From July 6th to 31st August 2026, our first Iraqi Scribes display will be live and available to visit at Willesden Green Library on the ground floor in the London Borough of Brent.

On Monday 20th July, we had an intimate session with all the members who contributed to the display sharing their art process and the meaning behind their work. It is thanks to all the artists and Emir (curator) who helped pull this off. I’m so proud of the work that we are starting to create and bring awareness to our experiences through art pieces, stories, poems and even objects of significance.

What began with an Arts Council grant to bring writers together has grown to include visual artists too. And I am proud how much talent our British-Iraqi community has to show. The plan from here is to continue bringing our stories to life through various art forms and to as many people as possible as well.
